There are other companies that make syrups--just Google "soda syrup" and you'll find them plus recipes to make your own if you want. I haven't tried many of the Sodastrea flavors because I was interested in making stevia-sweetened soda. I use Sweetleaf brand flavored stevia drops. I like the root beer, and also like to combine the chocolate flavor with a little each of the Valencia orange and cinnamon (tastes cola-like to me). As some other reviewers have mentioned, if you pick the unit up and shake it after each press of the button (hold the bottle and don't forget to remove the drip tray), you can force more CO2 into the water, enough to burn the back of your throat!
A doctor recommended that I purchase this book while on my last rotation as Nurse Practitioner student. It really helps and now I am making all "A's" in my pharm course and while working as NP it makes my jobs a lot easier and fast. I would recommend this book to all Nurse Practitioner students and Med Student as well.
Throughout history, we've seen that individuals can bring forth ideas that spark entire movements - shifts in thinking at the societal level - if those ideas are of sufficient profundity. It's becoming clear that the collective of modern scientific thinkers who believe science has no tools to inform morality are in need of their own Reformation, and Sam Harris might just be the next Martin Luther.
In 'The Moral Landscape', Harris does the hard work for the reader; he reasons through his assertions with such rigor that he presents every objection you could think of, and four more that you didn't, and addresses them alongside each point he makes along the way. Without fail, counter-arguments are handily dispatched. His points are underscored by fact-based evidence in clear and concise language, such that even if the reader disregards any emotional pressure that may come through Harris' words... if they honestly allow facts to stand as facts, there is no way not to agree with his conclusions.
As profound as his aims appear to be, in truth Harris only sets his sights on proving to the masses that the quality of moral positions can be measured. He's not writing the prescription for the ideal way to live (though he will argue that such a way or equivalent selection of ways exist and are yet to be discovered), he's aiming to give us a toolbox by which we might start uncovering what those ideal ways are.
Especially in this day of unparalleled ease of communication and access to information, this book deserves to spark a revolution.
Gripping,fascinating,mind-boggling,frightening and the adjectives can go on till infinity. One thing's for sure, this is probably the best book i've ever read in any category.Parasite Rex has made me stop and seriously consider my role and relative importance on this planet.Parasites are definitely creatures of intelligence and savvy even by some humans'standards. The way Mr.Zimmer expounds such a subject with such ease is a major credit to his communication skills. His analogies are so on point that you can easily see yourself inside an organism and watching the action unfold like a ringside seat at a big match. If all writers could simplify very technical material like Zimmer has,who knows some of us lay people could become scholars without having to go to college. For those who scoff at the thought that creatures so tiny can determinedly invade, alter, control and manipulate from organisms to entire eco-systems i dare you to pick up a copy of'PR'and be prepared to reshape your whole outlook on life.I give'Parasite Rex'five stars only because i can't give it more.Thank you so much Mr.Zimmer!!!!
